Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha

After the frigid night we got up around 7 and went for a walk in the community. We visited various ladies in the community who have projects to support themselves. The first lady was Jen, who had a fish farm (tilapia), a cow, chickens, rabbits, and a garden with veggies like zucchini. Susan at the second stop grew bananas and also had rabbits. There was a dog that seemed to be a every house and a goat following us around as well.

At the end we visited a ladies group where they make paper beads for bracelets and necklaces as well as other accessories. We also stopped at another place where the ladies made scarves, headbands and stuffed animals out of wool that they spun.

When we got back to the camp we had "brunch" - I think the pancakes made it brunch - washed up and packed up the truck. We then headed a short way and stopped at the store for snacks and another hour and a half we were at Crayfish Camp in Lake Naivasha. We decided not to upgrade, but they had rooms available with pretty funny names - khaki, black jeans, long tie, goggles, three piece, bikini...

Most of us took a shower since the last camp didn't have hot water due to the generator not working and then we were briefed on the available activities. Most people opted to go on the boat ride on the lake that evening, but 4 of us stayed behind and played pool and cards at the bar.

We had dinner - fried fish, mashed potatoes, and veg - and called it another early night. Still cold at night, but not as terrible as the night before. This may have been due to the 5 layers I had on top? Not sure.

The next morning we got up at 7 and had breakfast. This included an unidentified hot soup like substances  that a few people tried and likened to tasting like 'hot nothing'. I passed on trying it.

The prices for the activities were slightly deceiving in the intrepid trip notes, as we thought biking would cost $10 usd, but actually it somehow worked out to $50 usd. Trying to stay on some kind of budget, we passed on the activities and finally managed to get in some Pilates and cardio...running, my fave.. (Where is the sarcasm font?!) It was really good to get a nice chill day three weeks in to being on the move every day.

For lunch we had an interesting potato type salad with arrow root, green bananas, and potatoes, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, and salad...lots of salads! I think the boys on the trip are really missing meat as we've only really had it for dinner the first night.
