We got to Krabi and grabbed the airport shuttle for 150 baht each to the Mercure Krabi Deevana in Ao Nang Beach. Pretty good value considering it takes you right to the doorstep of the hotel. We settled in to the largest room in the hotel after Sherrill negotiated a better "extra bed" price.
That night we had dinner a Tanta and walked around looking for a bar. We found several very interesting places with many "women" trying to welcome us in. Using our better judgment, we passed on their offers and found Boogie Bar. There was an amazing band playing there which made up for their less than stellar "buckets". Oh, and they had Pimm's lemonade :)
The next day we took a longtail boat to Railay beach. Railay is only accessible by boat as it is cut off from the mainland by huge limestone cliffs.
On the longtail..
Limestone cliffs!
More Railay..
Later we booked tickets to Koh Phi Phi for the next day and had dinner at Patjawan. I took advantage of the cheap prices and bought a dress for 250 baht!
The next day we were picked up at our hotel and taken to the pier. Here I am on the ferry to Phi Phi..and Mo is being distracted by the scenery.
When we arrived in Phi Phi, our hotel - the Bay View Resort, picked us up in a longtail and we dropped off our day bags. We walked back toward the pier and had lunch at Khun Va restaurant. We decided to hike up (in flip flops..) to the viewpoints where you can see both bays.
Here is my unimpressed face as I am dripping in sweat...
But the view was great! And this was only viewpoint one.
Viewpoint two was even better! (But still covered in sweat)
We quenched our thirst with huge bottles of water and buckets of vodka pineapple and sat on the beach for a while.
Here's our cosy three person room! And Sherrill enjoying a Chang on her rollaway bed.
We went out to Banana Sombrero and Slinky bar that night for more buckets and fire dancing. I contemplated riding the mechanical bull at Slinky Bar and while I was doing that Mo was busy lighting someone's cigarette on one of the fire dancer's batons! How nice of her!
We returned to Ao Nang the next day and had a lazy night and decided to eat at the hotel. The band playing at the hotel restaurant happened to be we of the guys from the Boogie Bar band!
Our last full day in Ao Nang we ventured out to find the Smiling Dog Cafe for some crepes. Great crepes - Mo and I had crepes with sausage, tomato, egg and cheese. We headed to the beach afterward and managed to stay for a bit, but it was so hot and the sea water was like bathtub water so we retreated to the amazing hotel pool with cool water!
On the walk back to the hotel we couldn't resist taking a photo of Sherilll, who appeared to jump out of the shower, throw on a towel, and walk the streets of Ao Nang.
(Disclaimer...she does actually have a swimsuit on under there)
